Jiribam DEO appeals for smooth, peaceful election

Ahead of casting votes in Jiribam assembly segment which falls under Outer Manipur (ST) parliamentary constituency, Jiribam district election officer (DEO) Krisha Kumar on Tuesday appealed to all the electors and political parties of the district to extend cooperation for the smooth and peaceful conduct of election in the district.
He also urged all the voters to be firm for ethical and informed voting and further called upon each and every electors of the district to spare a moment, visit the nearest polling stations, exercise their constitutional rights and extend their contributions in the nation building process.
DEO Kumar also mentioned that as per the direction of Election Commission of India, Electors Photo Identity Card (EPIC) is not anymore standalone identification documents for voting as alternative documents such as Aadhaar card, Pan Card, driving license, passport, MGNREGS job card, Smart Health Card, passbook with photographs issued by banks or post office, pension documents with photographs, official ID cards issued by either MPs or MLAs and service ID cards issued by the government of India and PSUs may also be used for the voter's identification.
He also highlighted to make the election accessible, inclusive and participative as per the desire of the Election Commission of India.
The DEO, Jiribam has already provided postal ballot facilities to the eligible categories of voters such as voters in the age group of 85 and above, PWD voters, Divyangjan.
For such voters, two rounds of visit have already been made to their homes so that they can facilitate their votes.
For such categories of voters, wheel chair facilities, Booth Level Help Desk will also be provided as per the direction of ECI.
He also urged each and every one to refrain from taking any bribe and in case anybody offers any bribe or is having knowledge about the bribe or cases of intimidation of electors may inform such cases to toll free number 1950 of the Complaint Monitoring Cell set up for receiving the complaints.
Later, the DEO also launched election T-shirt with the logo "Jiribam District Election Officer" at the office chamber of DC, Jiribam.
Jiribam superintendent of police A Ghanashyam Sharma, ARO Th Manoranjan Singh, nodal officer for the welfare of polling personnel and ZEO (Jiribam) Th Amurashi Chanu, SDC (HQ) Amit Sagolsem and SDC/BO David Laitonjam also attended the T-Shirt launching programme.
On the other-hand, the third and final round of training for the polling personnel of Jiribam, which began April 22 in four batches at the training hall and conference hall of deputy commissioner's office in connection with the 18th Lok Sabha election, concluded on Tuesday.
The training programme attended by 200 polling personnel, including 40 women, covered topics, such as functioning of EVM, statutory and non-statutory documents, and other election tools as per the ECI guidelines.
They were also trained about operation and sealing of EVMs, sensitization on EVMs, duties of PRO, hands-on training on EVM, mock poll and actual poll, filing of mock poll certificate, form 17A, 17B and 17C, and presiding officer's diary.
The trainees were also trained on Pollstar, eAtlas and Traccar by DIO/NIC team, Jiribam, under the supervision of the DEO, and instructions of election observer to Outer Manipur (ST) PC.
The training was also attended by Jiribam ARO Th Manoranjan Singh; nodal officer for the Welfare of Polling Personnel Th Amurashi Chanu; nodal officer (training) Dr Th Somorendra Singh; additional nodal officer (training) Yumlembam Sanathoi; and master trainers Dr Ksh Memthoibi Devi (assistant professor, Jiri College), Sagolsem Monalisa Devi (assistant professor, Jiri College), Chanam Chanu Nganthoihanbi (professor, Jiri College), and Paonam Premananda Singh (professor, Jiri College).
It may be noted that the first and second rounds of training programme were conducted on March 22 and April 8 in batches.
