KVKs reach out to districts with VKSA campaign

The third day of the ongoing Vikshit Krishi Sankalp Abhiyan (VKSA) 2025 was organised at Churachandpur in nine different villages, namely, Thengjang, Majaron, Khaimol, Tollen, Saidan, Thongkholui, Thingchom, Monglenphai and Khawmowl by three teams comprising of experts from ICAR-Krishi Vigyan Kendra (KVK) Churachandpur on Saturday.
In a release, KVK, Churachandpur senior scientist and head Manoj Kumar Pandey informed that VKSA, a nationwide campaign aimed at transforming Indian agriculture through scientific intervention, was launched in Churachandpur district on May 29 .
On Saturday, a total of 1098 farmers were sansitised and mobilised through awareness programmes, demonstrations' and interactive Sessions.
ICAR-KVK, Churachandpur transferred seven suitable technologies for Manipur in form of leaflets to participating farmers.
In the campaign, experts highlighted on soil health campaign, modem agricultural practices for Kharif crops, soil and water conservation, climate resilient technologies, natural farming, composite fish culture, off-season vegetable cultivation, vermi-composting, Integrated Farming System, resource conservation technologies, animal feed/health management and campaigned on government schemes, it said.
Meanwhile, KVK, Ukhrul (ATARI Zone VII), under the ICAR Manipur Centre, also launched its nationwide pre-Kharif campaign, VKSA, across several interior pockets of Ukhrul and Kamjong districts, following its inauguration by the Union Minister of Agriculture and Farmer's Welfare Shivraj Singh Chauhan, in Puri, Odisha on May 29.A release issued by KVK, Ukhrul informed that the initiative is set to enhance agricultural development and increase farmer income within these districts by disseminating information regarding modern agricultural technologies and practices.
KVK, Ukhrul senior scientist & head, and district nodal officer Dr Soibam Khogen Singh reported positive progress of the campaign across the two districts, emphasising that farmers are being informed about various initiatives and technologies available in the region, with the campaign team, including scientists and subject matter specialists distributing technology leaflets, posters, and soil health cards, pond health cards, while also conducting interactive programmes to highlight state and central government schemes, it added.
KVK, Ukhrul also informed that since the start of the campaign, the teams led by Dr Solei Luiram, Dr PA Ramsem, and Dr Surjyakanta Roy have engaged with over 2000 farmers, collecting farmer innovations and local farming issues to facilitate scientific interventions under the challenging terrains and harsh weather conditions in the district.
The teams have so far visited 27 villages that include Awontang, Alungtang, Kazipphung, Mayotang, Sashaitang, Ngashantang, Zingshotang, Khaivatang, and Hamlung Mayotang on the first day covering 665 farmers; Shirui Chingthak, Lunghar, Kalhang, Shirui Chingkha, Nungbi Khullen, Loree Kajui, Langdang, Nungbi Khunou, and Joyland on second day covering 539 fairmers and Kuirei, Luireishmphung, Chingjaroi Khullen, Marem, Jessami, Ngahui, Razai Khunou, Maremphung, and Namrei on third day on Saturday, covering 803 farmers, the release added.
