Standard College, Kongba History Department assistant professor Dr Nongmaithem Ranjana has stressed the need to have young children and students well informed if "we are to protect and preserve our rich cultural heritage".
She made the statement as the chief guest at the observance of 'World Health Day' jointly organised by the Department of History and IQAC of Ng Mani College under the theme 'Preserving Our Past, Answering our future', at the hall of the College on Friday.
She continued that preservation and protection of our history and cultural heritage is a continuous process, while stressing that young children and students need to be informed of the importance of the same.
Mentioning that history students often score low marks when it comes to Manipuri history, culture and heritage; Dr Ranjana pointed out that the information available on the internet is not enough.
Thus, scholars need to investigate into various related topics so that they can be good resources and sources of information for the future generation, she maintained.
The observance was also attended by Ng Mani College principal W Jivan Kumar as president and Dr M Umakanta as guest of honour, along with students, teaching and non-teaching staff.
