PAC reviews progress of Manipur Bhavan construction

A team of Public Accounts Committee (PAC) of Manipur Legislative Assembly visited the Manipur Bhavans in Delhi and Dwarka on Tuesday and reviewed the progress of the construction work being taken up there.
The PAC team led by chairman MLA K Meghachandra also visited Manipur Bhavan, Guwahati on Monday and assessed its present condi tion.
From there, the team went to the national capital to take stock of the progress of construction works on Manipur Bhavans in Delhi and Dwarka.
MLA Usham Deben and other senior officials of Manipur Legislative Assembly are also part of the PAC team.
Speaking to The People's Chronicle over the phone, chairman Meghachandra informed that the construction work in Dwarka was slated for completion this month but had been delayed due to disruption by Covid-19 pandemic.
Now, the deadline has been rescheduled to March 2024, he said, adding that the PAC team is visiting the construction site to monitor work quality and progress.
The Manipur Bhavan in Dwarka is a seven-storeyed building with 104 rooms including VIP rooms, dormitory, conference hall, public rooms as well as a medical room.
The built-up area is 3899.42 square metres and the construction has been taken up at an estimated cost of Rs 147.71 crore.
Once completed, it will address the issue of non-availability of rooms at Manipur Bhavan, Delhi, he said.
The MLA also informed that they inspected the condition of Tikendrajit Bhavans in Sardar Patel Marg and Chanakyapuri as well.
