CM briefs Amit Shah on peace efforts, talks elevated highway project with Gadkari and sports with Mandaviya

Chief Minister Yumnam Khemchand today called on Union Home Minister Amit Shah at the latter's official residence in New Delhi and also met Nitin Gadkari and Mansukh Mandaviya.
During the meeting, the Chief Minister apprised the Union Home Minister of the measures taken up by the State Government toward restoring peace and normalcy in the State.
Khemchand informed Amit Shah that the State Government has succeeded in resuming Imphal-Dimapur-Guwahati bus service, which has brought much-needed relief to the common people.
He also urged the Union Home Minister to help the State tide over various issues being faced by the State and sought continued support from the Central Government.

The Chief Minister reiterated his invitation to Amit Shah to visit the State.
Accepting the invitation, the Union Home Minister told Khemchand Singh that he will visit the State this month.
Amit Shah gave a patient hearing to the Chief Minister and assured all support in bringing peace and progress and in fulfilling the aspirations of the people of Manipur.
The Union Home Minister also appreciated the sustained efforts of the State Government to bring peace and normalcy in Manipur.
The Chief Minister also met Union Minister of Road Transport and Highways Nitin Gadkari at the latter's residence in New Delhi today.
Khemchand urged Gad-kari to start the construction work of the Shangshak-Tengnoupal Highway and requested him to sanction the proposed elevated highway project in Imphal city.
He also urged the Union Minister to ensure the completion of the ongoing works of National Highway-37 and National Highway-2 during this working season to improve connectivity and ease the hardships faced by the people.
Nitin Gadkari informed the Chief Minister that the proposed elevated highway project in Imphal is under active consideration of the Ministry of Road Transport and Highways.
He assured the Chief Minister that all projects and issues raised by the State Government will be duly addressed and that his Ministry will extend all possible help to Manipur for its overall development and road connectivity.
Meanwhile Union Youth Affairs and Sports Minister Dr Mansukh Mandaviya has appreciated the performance of Manipur players in the just concluded Asian Games at Aichi-Nagoya, Japan.
In another separate meeting between Dr Mansukh Mandaviya and Chief Minister Yumnam Khemchand at the former's residence in New Delhi today, the Chief Minister congratulated Dr Mandaviya on the success of the Indian team in the recently concluded Asian Games at Aichi-Nagoya in Japan.
Khemchand informed Dr Mandaviya about the problems of existence of two federations/bodies in many sports disciplines.
He urged the Union Sports Minister to resolve this issue as having two federations for one sports discipline causes inconvenience to the players.
Khemchand also apprised the Union Sports Minister about the contributions of Manipuri players and athletes in the field of sports in India.
Dr Mandaviya agreed to visit Manipur shortly to oversee various works of the Union Sports Ministry in the State.
He will also visit the National Sports University (NSU) in Imphal.
The National Sports University, the first of its kind in India, is considered as a landmark and dream project of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, according to a statement issued by the Chief Minister's Secretariat.
