UG cadres netted; stolen vehicles recovered

Imphal, April 18 2025:
Security forces arrested two UG cadres, seized a large cache of arms and explosives from multiple locations across the state, and recovered dozens of stolen and snatched vehicles during a series of operations conducted on Wednesday and Thursday.
On Thursday, security forces arrested two cadres of the proscribed KYKL from Wangjing Khabakhong, opposite HP oil pump along NH-102 in Thoubal district.
The arrested individuals have been identified as Mutum Ranjan Meitei alias Lamjingba (21), and Ngasepam Barlin Singh alias Kanglei (23).Authorities also recovered a 36 HE hand grenade, a Chinese hand grenade, four mobile phones, a two-wheeler, and other personal items from their possession.
In a separate operation, security forces recovered a large cache of arms and ammunition from the western foothills of Chingkhei Ching under Porompat police station, Imphal East.
Items recovered included a 7.62 SLR rifle, a 7.65 mm pistol, two SBBL guns, three No 36 HE hand grenades without detonators, tear smoke shells, live rounds of various calibres, BP jackets, helmets, and other explosive materials.
Another recovery was made from the general area of Saivom village in Tengnoupal district, during which two country-made 9mm pistols, 10 improvised explosive devices (IEDs), eight hand grenades, and eight Pompi shells of various sizes were recovered.
Further, a joint operation along the Khong-naobi Canal Road between Lairenkabi and Sanjenbam villages under Lamsang PS in Imphal West led to the recovery of several sophisticated weapons including an AK rifle, SLR, 9mm carbine machine gun, pistol, grenades, ammunition, smoke grenades, rubber bullets, and riot control equipment.
Another arms cache was found nearby the Wabagai Buffalo Farm under Kakching PS in Kakching district.
They include rifles, pistols, ammunition, a mortar shell, communication equipment, and protective gear.
Meanwhile, on Thursday, police recovered 17 stolen/snatched vehicles, including 16 four-wheelers, from various locations.
Verification of seven of the vehicles is underway.
Earlier on Wednesday, a special drive by police led to the recovery of 15 vehicles, comprising nine four wheelers, from suspected anti-social elements.
