District administrations, others celebrate 1-Day

Imphal, August 16 2023: As the country celebrated the 77th Independence Day commemorating the day on which India got independence from British rule, district administrations and different institutions also celebrated the day at their respective district headquarters and locations on Tuesday.

In Thoubal, the day was celebrated at the mini secretariat complex at the district headquarters with DC Thoubal Ahanthem Subhash hoisting the national flag and taking national salute accompanied by national anthem.

He also took salute from the march past contingents led by parade commander SDPO Thoubal Wairokpam Ibocha.

Altogether six contingents including Manipur Police (male), Manipur Police (female), Traffic Police, VDF, Home Guard, VDF Band Party Thoubal participated in the march past.

KANGPOKPI: Kangpokpi district also joined the nation in celebrating Independence Day with the main function held at the DC's Office Complex at the district headquarters.

Chief guest of the function, DC Kangpokpi Mahesh Chaudhari hoisted the national flag.

The march past event, which was participated by two contingents of Kangpokpi district police and 119 battalion of CRPF, was led by Saikul PS sub-inspector Seiginlen Kip-gen as the parade commander.

Certificates of appreciation were given to 62 government employees among others.

The event was followed by cultural dance performed by Agape Children Home, Kangpokpi.

CHC Saikul was presented State Award in the category of top performing hospitals in the district level.

KAKCHING: District administration Kakching also celebrated the Independence Day at DC Complex, Kakching.

DC Kakching Somorjit Salam, who attended the celebration as chief guest, spoke on the freedom struggle and how the state has been marching towards the path of progress while highlighting achievements made in different sectors.

He also expressed shock on the prevailing situation in the state in the wake of the ongoing humanitarian crisis, which according to him will sent back the state to dark ages.

He, however, called for resilience and let the spirit of perseverance and patience be the strength and guiding force to bring the state once again to the fore of development, peace and unity.

The DC lauded all the employees working in the district for their contribution and certificates of appreciation were distributed to several employees.

SDPO Kakching Konjengbam was the parade commander of the march past, which was participated by contingents of Manipur Police, VDF, and district traffic police.

NONEY: The day was also celebrated in Noney district by the district administration at the DC Office Complex located at the district headquarters.

DC Noney Joseph Pauline Kamson said that despite challenges of a young district, its future looks promising due to its strategic location amongst other factors.

He stressed that many developmental works have been undertaken by the government in the district including railway projects while adding that the railway line from Jiribam to Imphal which passes through Noney district vial Khongsang railway station and other sub-stations will not only connect Manipur to the rest of the country but will also open new vistas for economic development in the region.

He also spoke on achievements in different sectors like education, law and order and social sector, A total of 15 contingents that included civil, police, students and band party of 19th Assam Rifles took part in the march past parade.

ASP Noney Peter Namsadai Pamei was the parade commander of the parade.

Certificates of appreciation were distributed to select government employees recognising their contribution.

Cultural dance and patriotic song presentation enthralled the audience during the function.

Red blankets were also distributed to the village elders and CSO leaders.

Awards and prizes were also distributed to participants of the march past contingents and departmental gate makers.

SP Noney N Madhunimai, ADM S Khapudang, ASPs, CO of 19th Assam Rifles, CO of Terrestrial Army, CRPF officials, DFO, DLOs, other officials, public leaders, village chairman, chiefs, elders and church leaders were also present at the celebration.

CCPUR: The Independence Day for Churachandpur district was celebrated at Peace Ground, Tuibong with DC Dharun Kumar hoisting the tricolour.

Altogether 21 contingents including BSF, Civil Police, school students and AR Band party took part in the march past parade.

In recognition of their outstanding and valuable services to the district, 108 government employees, 14 philanthropic organisations and 75 personnel of Central Paramilitary Forces were presented certificates of appreciation on the occasion.

Amongst others, DNO (relief) Mannuamching, IGP Kabib K, DIG LM Haokip, SP CCpur Karthik Malladi, 1st IRB commandant L Khongsai and senior officers of central security forces, DLOs, tribe leaders, attended the programme.

Presentation of cultural items and songs by various troupes and artistes marked the event.

SENAPATI: district administration Senapati celebrated the Independence Day at Sanyi Dahrii Sport Complex, Khabung Karong, Senapati.

DC Senapati Mamoni Doley hoisted the national flag and took the salutes from the march past parade contingents which was led by SDPO Mao H Timothy Maram as the parade commander.

Altogether 22 contingents consisting of police, ASHA workers, Anganwadi workers and schools student participated in the parade.

Commendation certificates were handed over to 96 employees for their outstanding contribution.

Five cultural troupes consisting Mao, Nepali, Poumai, Mao, Maram and a solo dance were also performed.

Later, a friendly football match was played between district administration Senapati and CSO's for both men and women at the Astro Turf Football Ground, Senapati.

The programme was attended by SP Shivanand Surve, CEO of ADC Senapati, DLOs, CSO leaders, town committee members and village authorities.

KAMJONG: District administration Kamjong also celebrated the Independence Day at Kamjong Higher Secondary School Ground with the DC taking salute of the marching parade comprising of 19 contingents belonging to school students, ASHA workers, district police and other security forces.

Cultural performances by cultural troupes of different communities were also held as part of the celebration.

The celebration was also attended by CO of 8th AR Sumit Acharya, SDO Kamjong Philip John, ASP Kamjong Semmi Ramror, DLOs and police officials of Kamjong district, ExADC members, representatives of CSOs, village headmen, Church leaders, teachers and students from various parts of the district.

JIRIBAM: District administration of Jiribam also celebrated Independence Day at DC Complex, Chingdong Leikai.

Additional DC Jiribam I Dinesh Kumar unfurled the tricolour and took salute from the two contingents of Jiribam district police commanded by SI S Suraj and 87th battalion of CRPF commanded by SI B Mangal Bhai.

Appreciation certificates were awarded to parade commander SDPO Jiribam T Inaobi, commanders of two march past contingents, two pilots of 7th IRB, flag assistant head constable Ch Basanta, and Jiri College assistant professors Dr Ksh Memtombi and Ch Nganthoihanbi.

SP Jiribam A Ghanashyam, CO of 87th battalion CRPF, CO of 7th IRB, ASP Jiribam, SDO Jiribam and other DLOs and government officials of the district as well as public participated in the celebration.

UKHRUL: The 77th Independence Day was also celebrated at Bakshi Ground, Hungpung in Ukhrul on Tuesday.

Ukhrul DC Zuringla Ken-goo stated that under the state government's on-going 'War on Drugs' campaign, a combined team of Ukhrul District Police along with District administration, 6MR, Forest Department and NAB had carried out extensive destruction of illicit poppy plantation at various places in Ukhrul District from January 18, 2022 onwards.

Since then, around 868 acres of illicit poppy plantation have been destroyed and over 90kg of Brown Sugar and 55kg of opium seized and 16 arrests made along with lodging of different FIR cases.

CHANDEL: District administration Chandel joined the Nation in celebrating the 77th Independence Day at Japhou, Maha Union Higher Secondary School ground on Tuesday.

As part of the celebration, 11 village chiefs were honoured with red blankets, followed by distribution of appreciation certificates and cash awards to officials and security personnel of various line departments of the district.

The celebration was also attended by SP Chandel Hemant Pande, CO 8 Bn Manipur S Somorjit Singh (IPS), 21 Assam Rifle Commandant, DFO Chandel, SDO Chandel; DLOs, officials and staffs of the district administration, village chiefs, and others.

PHERZAWL: District Administration, Pherzawl celebrated the 77th Independence Day at Pherzawl District Headquarters on Tuesday.

Presentation of awards and appreciation certificates to various government employees marked the occasion, which was attended by SP Pherzawl Lalboi Haokip, MPS, DLOs, officials of various line departments and CSO leaders among others.

BISHNUPUR: District Administration Bishnupur also celebrated the 77th Independence Day at Mini Secretariat Complex, DC Bishnupur on Tuesday.

The celebration was attended by SP Bishnupur Roni Mayengbam, Add SP (Ops) Amarjit, Addl SP (L&O) Satyam Takhellambam, DFO Bishnupur Dr Rebika Soibam Chanu, Kumbi AC ex-MLA S Bir, Bishnupur Municipal Council caretaker L Maniyaima Singh and DLOs among others.

In all, 80 police officers and 50 employees from different line departments were awarded commendation certificates.

TML: The district administration of Tamenglong also celebrated 77th Independence Day at Apollo ground, Mini Stadium, Tamenglong district headquarter with DC Tamenglong Dr LAngshim Dangshawa as the chief guest.

Parade commander Josiah T Panmei, Deputy Commandant, 5 MR led the 42 march past contingents while 44 Assam Rifles opened the Independence Day celebration by playing the national anthem.

As part of celebration, credentials awards and appreciation certificates were also presented to outstanding government employees from different departments.

Sports materials were also provided to all the march past contingents.
