Imphal, August 16 2023:
The lack of progress and action on the demand for a separate administration is deeply troubling, said Kuki Inpi Manipur (KIM) today resting all hopes on the SoO groups which will hold talk with the Government of India tomorrow.
In a statement released to the media, KIM said the people are looking forward to the scheduled talk tomorrow, and in case of any failure to grant the collective political demand, the people will be left with no choice but to hold the representatives of the talk accountable for their failure to fulfil their duties and responsibilities.
"The lack of progress and action on the legitimate demand of our people for Separate Administration is deeply troubling, and our people can no longer allow the unavailing negation of the legitimate demand of our people," said KIM.
It said the Government has a responsibility to address the concerns and challenges faced by its citizens.
"It is with great disappointment that we must witness the continued inaction on the critical matter.
Despite numerous appeals and pleas for resolution, no concrete steps have been taken to alleviate the suffering and difficulties faced by our community...," said KIM.
While urging the Government to recognise the severity of the issue and to engage in open and transparent dialogue with the SoO groups, KIM said the well-being and security of the people of the community are not negotiable.
"We want to make it clear that the well-being and security of our fellow citizens are not negotiable.
Therefore, the government must take immediate and effective measures to address this issue and expedite a permanent political solution for our people.
The people thus look forward to the scheduled talk to be held on 17/08/2023 between Kuki SoO groups and the Government of India.
"In case of any failure to grant the collective political demand of our people, the people will be left with no choice but to hold the representatives of the talk accountable for their failure to fulfil their duties and responsibilities and therefore any eventualities out of such shall not be the fault of the people," said KIM, adding this decision was taken to demonstrate the urgency of the situation and compel the Government to take decisive action.
The Kuki community will not rest until "justice" is served, said KIM.
