Govt urged to mitigate farmers' woes

While pointing out that farmers have incurred heavy loss and faced tremendous inconveniences because of the frequent attacks by Kuki militants since May 3, All Manipur Progressive Farmers' Association (AMPFA) urged the government to take up a proper plan so as to mitigate the problems faced by farmers.
In a release, AMPFA secretary Kh Biren informed that five farmers' association along with AMPFA conducted a survey about the loss incurred by the conflict.
According to the survey, Rs 267.3961750 crore was lost in paddy, Rs 50,80,08,230 in horticulture, Rs 36,64,81,775 in veterinary, Rs 24,06,45,664 in fishery and Rs 9,35,96,314 in sericulture sector.
Considering the loss, he said that the government should convene a special session for the farmers and discuss initiative to prevent from escalation of problems faced by the farmers.
