Imphal, August 16 2023:
World Meetei Council (WMC) Manipur Unit and Khwairamband Ima Keithel Joint Co-ordinating Committee for Peace submitted memorandum to state Governor Anusiya Uikey.
World Meetei Council, in the memorandum, drew the attention of the Governor towards the grievances faced by parents and students of the state who are studying outside the state.
It is learnt that they are unable to pay their fees, semester fees, room rents or hostel fees due to internet ban since the outbreak of the conflict on May 3 last.
Most of the educational institutions in the country follow their timings for payment of fees.
However, many parents fear of losing academic year and semester of their children as they cannot clear the fees in time.
The Council further urged the Governor to look into the matter so that a solution may be found at the earliest.
On the other hand, Khwairamband Ima Keithel Joint Co-ordinating Committee for Peace submitted a memorandum to the Governor demanding prompt action for doing complete justice to the people particularly those taking shelter in different relief camps.
The Committee urged the Governor for taking up necessary steps for implementation of National Register of Citizens, expulsion of foreign Chin-Kuki militants illegally migrated from Myanmar, containing activities of narco-terrorists with stern action by security forces, rehabilitation of all displaced persons in their original places with full protection and rehabilitation packages from the government and prompt action for doing complete justice in respect of a Meetei woman who was gang-raped by Kuki miscreants in Kuki dominated Churachandpur
district on May 3 .
