Raj Bhavan, HC, others celebrate 77th Independence Day

As celebrated across the nation, Governor Anusuiya Uikey led the celebration of 77th Independence Day at Raj Bhavan, Manipur on Tuesday.
The Governor hoisted the National Flag as part of the occasion and the general salute was given by a contingent of 109 Bn CRPF.
The National Anthem was also sung to mark the celebration.
Officers and staff of Raj Bhavan and security personnel of 109 Bn CRPF stationed at the Raj Bhavan attended the celebration.
The Governor also distributed sweets to all the security personnel and staff, followed by photo session with security and staff of Raj Bhavan.
Later in the day, the Governor hosted the At Home' reception at Raj Bhavan as part of the 77th Independence Day Celebration.
She was given a ceremonial welcome by the police band with the National Anthem played by it.
Chief minister Nongthombam Biren, Manipur Legislative Assembly speaker Th.Satyabrata, council of ministers, MLAs, top civil and police officers & officials of the state, eminent personalities, invitees amongst others were present on the occasion.
The Governor extended warm greetings of Independence Day and exchanged pleasantries and interacted with the invitees present for the reception.
On the other hand, High Court of Manipur and other lower courts also celebrated 77th Independence Day on August 15.In a function held at High Court of Manipur complex, Acting Chief Justice MV Muralidaran hoisted the Tricolour Flag and received a guard of honour from a BSF contingent.
The programme was also attended by Justice Aribam Guneshwar Sharma, Justice Ahanthem Bimol Singh, Justice Kh Nobin Singh, HC officials, High Court Bar Association office bearers, senior lawyers, staff, etc.
Similar celebrations were also held at Manipur Judicial Academy, High Court of Manipur Complex and District & Session Court Complex, Uripok by District & Session Division Imphal West & Imphal East.
Meanwhile, BSF celebrated 77th Independence Day at BSF Central Headquarters, Koirengei with BSF IG Akh-ileshwar Singh hoisting the national flag.
Similarly, Independence Day was celebrated at Directorate of Prisons, Manipur and Manipur Central Jail, Sajiwa with IGP (Prisons) Faumei Gonglin hoisting the National Flag at the directorate, while Manipur Central Jail, Sajiwa superintendent hoisting the Flag at the said Central Jail.
During the celebration, commendation certificates were distributed by IGP (Prisons) Faumei Gonglin to Directorate of Prisons, Manipur office superintendent RS Lydia, upper division clerk M Lukeshor Singh; Manipur Central Jail, Sajiwa assistant jailor Wungramkhan Horam; Manipur Central Jail, Imphal assistant jailor N Durgesh Kumar and Warders RK Sanajon Singh, S Premchandra Meitei & S Luckyboy Singh.
On the other hand, Assam Rifles celebrated Independence Day across various locations such as Tengnoupal High School, Saibol, Yangkhul, Sairel Saisem, Yangoupokpi and Morengthel, Yangkhul, RRC, Sita, and Khudenthabi villages in Tengnoupal district; Somsai, Poi, Tusom , Kharasom & Awangkasom villages in Ukhrul district and Kasong village, Kamjong district.
Meanwhile Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) Manipur Pranta celebrated Independence Day at the Model Relief Centre opened at Rajarshi Bhagyachandra Skill Development Center (RBSDC), Haraorou, Imphal East district and Seva Bharati, Nagamapal.
On the occasion, RSS Manipur Imphal Zilla honoured Kh Indira Devi, wife of Veer Saheed head constable (CRPF), Kh Upendra Singh, who died on July 18, 2016 fighting against the Naxals in Chhakarbandha forest, Bihar.
