Ex-minister Konsam Tomba no more

Imphal, August 16 2023:
Former minister Konsam Tomba passed away at the age of 80 due to a personal illness at around 10.30 am on Wednesday.
Konsam Tomba was born to Konsam Gokul of Tangkham Makha Leikai, Imphal East on July 19, 1943 .
He (Tomba) is survived by five sons and three daughters.
He had been undergoing treatment for his ailment for a long time.
Tomba first joined politics after winning the elections in 2000 from Khundrakpam AC on Manipur People's Party (MPP) ticket.
He joined the coalition government formed by Manipur State Congress Party (MPCC) with (L) Wahengbam Nupamacha as CM, as IFCD minister.
In 2001, following the June 18 incident, the President's Rule was imposed in Manipur due to political instability.
After this, Tomba joined different political parties including FPM (2003), INC (2007) and TMC (2012) and
contested elections.
