Demanding.convening of meeting of Ethics and Privilege Committee and action against the 10 Kuki MLAs, volunteers of Imagi Meira and women agitators stormed the Assembly complex, on Monday.
The women agitators led by Imagi Meira volunteers went to meet the Speaker to press their demands but were blocked by police personnel from entering the assembly complex.
Later, three members of the agitators led by Imagi Meira convenor Thokchom Sujata, were allowed entry and meet officials of the Assembly secretariat.
Speaking to reporters on their way out, Sujata informed that meeting of the Ethics and Privilege Committee earlier scheduled in December last year was cancelled as many of the members failed to turn up.
However, as all the legislators are now in the state, the volunteers of Imagi Miera along with other meira paibi activists came to meet the speaker for reconvening the shelved meeting of the Committee.
As the Speaker was found out of station, they informed the deputy chairman of the assembly to convey the message to the Speaker to convene the meeting by first week of February.
She further said that since the 50 MLAs have failed to discuss the prevailing situation on the floor of the House and the state assembly has not been able to take up action against the 10 Kuki MLAs, it is better to convert the State Assembly into a community hall or a tourist home.
