College of Nursing holds first convocation ceremony

Imphal, January 29 2024:
The first convocation ceremony of BSc Nursing 2016-2023 batch and MSc Nursing 2018-2021 batch of the government-run College of Nursing was held at the conference hall of the college, Lamphelpat, here, on Monday.
Speaking as chief guest of the ceremony, Manipur University Registrar professor W Chandbabu emphasised on the importance of every nursing student to plan their way forward to face the challenges they may encounter in their career, adding that this is the day for such planning.
He also spoke on the characteristics of a good nurse and impact of their service on the health care system of a society.
The chief guest pointed out that passion is one of the key components of attaining success in any profession.
While pointing out that life is full of challenges and people need to face these challenges, he also reminded that as a profession associated with healthcare, nurses need to update and upgrade their knowledge from time to time.
In his presidential speech, health services director Dr Kh Sasheekumar said that Manipuri nurses are in high demand in foreign countries due to their dedication in service and some countries are even requesting to send nursing experts.
He advised the newly graduated nurses to be sincere in their service and acquire new knowledge from time to time.
Noting that there are many nurses, who do not possess the quality of being a nurse as could be comprehended from some refusing to take hill posting and instead sending their substitutes while some are more interested in other activities, he called upon the nurses to be true to their profession.
College of Nursing principal Dr N Surbala, vice-president of the college governing body M Shanti and Manipur Nursing Council registrar A Jamuna were also present at the event as guests of honour.
Honorary degrees and awards were distributed to nursing students on the occasion.
