Thoubal, January 29 2024:
Condemning the entry of Manipur police and BSF personnels within the premises of Thoubal Court Complex and the subsequent levelling of "wild allegations" recently, the Thoubal District Bar Association (TDBA) has submitted an appeal to the District and Session Judge Thoubal and Register General High Court of Manipur calling for legal action against the individuals involved.
Advocate Khangembam Arunkumar, president, TDBA shared the information during a press conference held at TDBA Office located at Thoubal Court Complex today.
Speaking to the media, Khagembam Arunkumar claimed that All Manipur Bar Association (AMBA) joint secretary Shantikumar Meinam had commended TDBA for their proactive steps in this connection through a phone call but AMBA itself has not made any public statement in this regard, he rued.
Decrying the silence on the matter, he maintained that TDBA will continue to protest against the unfortunate incident involving Manipur police and BSF personnel at Thoubal Court Complex.
On another note, Kh Arun pointed out that the Government had published an advertisement on December 31 wherein the Chief Justice of Manipur High Court and a lady judge were listed below the names of the Chief Minister, Law Minister and Law Commissioner.
Shedding light on it, he informed that this is not according to protocol.
On the occasion, the TDBA president also made an appeal to the State Government to cancel the shifting of Assistant Survey and Settlement Officer Thoubal and Kakching to Lamphelpat citing inconveniences to the people of the two districts.
He urged the relevant authority to ensure that the offices remain in their
previous locations.
