AT rescues 3 hog deer

Moirang, January 29 2024:
Aram-bai Tenggol rescued three trapped hog deer at Keibul Lamjao National Park today.
The three hog deer were rescued during a drive undertaken by members of Arambai Tenggol to check poaching of Sangai and other wild animals in the park.
Members of Arambai Tenggol Unit 7, Unit 25, Unit 39, Unit 6B, Unit 35 and Forest Guards took part in the drive, which started at 10 am today.
The three hog deer were found trapped in nets at Shangom Kher Khong under KLNP.
The hog deer were rescued and later examined and treated by veterinary officers.
As the hog deer were in no condition to be released in the wild, they have been given to Iroishemba Veterinary for medical attention and care.
After recovery, the hog deer will be released in the park, said Arambai Tenggol.
Members of Arambai Tenggol said they have been conducting similar drives in the park since January 26 .
The members said they will continue the drive and severely punish those found laying traps in the park.
The members of Arambai Tenggol also urged the State Government to take up strict measures to check poaching of Sangai and other wildlife inside the park.
They urged the Government to provide adequate and necessary tools to the forest and park staff to successfully curb all illegal activities inside the park.
