Charter of demands submitted

Imphal, January 22 2015:
Relief Centre for the Welfare of Differently Abled Persons, Manipur has submitted a charter of demands to the Union Minister of Social Justice and Empowerment.
The charter of demands included appointment of full time State Disability Commissioner, framing State Disability Policy, implementation of 3% reservation under Section 33 of Person with Disability Act 1995 against the recent notification for the Recruitment of Government Department, including the number of posts reserved for persons with disabilities - current as well as backlog - as required by law, ensuring filling up of all backlog vacancies, conducting special recruitment drive for clearing up backlog vacancies for persons with disabilities, etc.
The charter of demands also urged the Union Minister to advice the State Government to launch public awareness campaign about the recruitment drive and the 3% reservation for persons with disabilities, complying of the orders by all Government Departments with respect to employment and recruitment.
Furthermore, the Relief Centre demanded that all scheme sponsored by Government of India should be implemented by the concerned Department with relation to Person with Disabilities and circulate the schemes to all organizations dealing with the same case and white barrier free features be ensured in all public buildings.
