He urged the students to equip themselves to keep pace with the fast-changing technological landscape and the global competition.
Reflecting on the past, he said that students earlier depended fully on their parents for education and pursued studies with the aim of securing a government job to support their families.
However, times have changed, and students must now strive to become job creators instead of job seekers, he said, adding: "It was this spirit that had driven the establishment of many successful private enterprises across the world".
Biren called upon parents to guide their children not only towards academic achievements but also towards becoming accomplished individuals rooted in social values and driven by a sense of responsibility to society.
He said that the purpose of education must go beyond personal gains and involve meaningful contributions to the community.
He also underscored the importance of instilling moral values and cultivating the behaviour of ideal individuals deeply rooted in the ethos of Manipuri society among younger generations.
Highlighting efforts made during his tenure as chief minister to improve the education sector, Biren said that 120 government schools were developed into model schools and plans were underway to upgrade 100 more.
He also mentioned the College Fagathansi Mission aimed at developing infrastructure in government colleges to provide quality higher education.
Pointing out existing gaps in the school curriculum, Biren said many students lack adequate knowledge about the indigenous communities of the state and its diverse traditions, cultures, and languages.
To bridge this gap, his government had published a book titled 'Know Your Manipur', and preparations are being made to include its content in the school syllabus.
Patriotism and nationalism should be the foundation of every individual, Biren said, adding that such values are vital for building an ideal and developed society.
He urged students to stay focused on their studies and maintain discipline to realise their full potential.
Biren's better-half Hiyainu, BJP Heingang Mandal president Khumanthem Jilla, and Imphal East Zilla Parishad chairperson Dr P December also attended the event as members on the dais.
