Imphal, June 20 2023:
Contending that there are loopholes in the preparation to conduct 1st Semester examination for the colleges under Manipur University, Kangleipak Students' Association (KSA) suggested that as many students won't be able to write the exam authorities concerned should reschedule the programme.
In a release, KSA pointed out that as per the notice issued by Manipur University on June 12, displaced students have been allowed to choose an exam centre of their convenience.
However, as the choice of exam centres would be subjected to mutual agreements from principal concerned of their college and that of the other college they opt for there would be serious inconveniences.
Moreover, the notice stated that a supplementary exam may be conducted if the displaced candidates fail to appear the exam.
As such, it questioned whether the students from the peripheral areas who are volunteering to safeguard their villages will be denied permission for appearing in the exam as they .
are not under the 'displaced students' category.
KSA exhorted the university to review/reconsider its decision as many students especially those from the peripheral areas are unlikely to be able to appear for the exam in their respective colleges and highlighted the plight of students from far-flung areas as there are no regular passenger services at the moment.
The release further appealed to conduct supple mentary exam for all the students who might not be able to appear the exam owing to the prevailing tense situation in the state and to allow the students to freely opt any examination centre convenient for them.
