Kangpokpi, June 07 2021:
As part of its daily COVID related activities, the COVID Task Force of Kangpokpi Assembly Constituency constituted by local MLA Nemcha Kipgen carried out various preventive measures on Monday.
The COVID Task Force Kangpokpi visited all COVID patients in home isolation in Kangpokpi town and provided basic requirements such as rice and dal donated by the local MLA.
The CTF Kangpokpi team led by its chairman Haolet Khongsai and secretary Hekim Hangshing also conducted random mass testing within its jurisdiction.
Earlier, the task force in collaboration with mobile testing team of District Hospital Kangpokpi and personnel of Kangpokpi police station had conducted mass testing on violators of the local lockdown and shopkeepers in the town.
As part of the mass testing drive, the CTF in collaboration with Kangpokpi police led by SI Rex and COVID Testing Team of District Hospital Kangpokpi conducted another random mass testing on left-out shopkeepers in various localities of the town.
Around 21 shopkeepers were tested at the district hospital and all were found negative.
During the random mass testing drive, the CTF Kangpokpi came across a workshop owner who set an example by accepting the request of the task force team for testing.
"We should not hesitate to get tested and even if we have tested positive there is nothing to be embarrassed about.
We should rather be thankful to the Task force for their tireless efforts to prevent the spread of virus among us and for our timely treatment," said Helun, the workshop owner.
However, unfortunately some of the ward members discouraged the COVID Task Force from conducting mass testing on unwilling ward members.
Following such hindrance encountered by the Task Force, the local MLA instructed the COVID Task Force to seal the shops of those who are not willing to get tested.
The COVID Task Force Kangpokpi in the presence of the concerned ward members also discharged those home isolation patients after obtaining negative reports from the medical department.
Speaking to media persons, Haolet Khongsai, chairman CTF Kangpokpi, informed that under the initiative of his team almost 500 individuals were tested during the mass testing drive and around 10 individuals were found positive.
He further said that the CTF has provided essential items to all home isolation patients provided by the local MLA, adding that the team will continue to carry out various COVID related activities apart from the mass testing drive.
