MLA RK Imo hopeful of positive outcome of all-party meet

National People's Party (NPP) national general Secre- tary and Kakching MLA Mayan -glambam Rameshwar Singh on Thursday met and submitted memorandums to various union ministers for restoration of peace and normalcy in Manipur.
Issuing a press release in this regard, MLA Rameshwar in-formed that a team of 25 MLAs of different political parties led by Speaker Thokchom Satyabrata met defence minister Rajnath Singh and finance minister Nirmala Sitharaman.
The MLA team urged the union ministers to help resolve the on going violence in Manipur; safeguard the territorial integrity of Manipur; withdraw SoO with Kuki militants violating the ground rules of the agreement; open the blockade on Ni l 102; and put an end to the violence in the peripheral areas of the valley.
On top of this, the Kakch-ing MLA personally apprised Rajnath Singh, Nirmala Sitharaman, minister of Road Transport and Highways Nitin Gadkari and NEDA convenor Himanta Biswa Sarma of the various issues plaguing the state and reiterated the aforementioned concerns.
He also urged for drawing the attention of the Prime Minister to the unrest in Manipur and providing adequate funds for the relief and resettlement of the people displaced by the violence.
Himanta Biswa also urged the central leaders to solve the prevailing crisis and restore peace and normalcy in Manipur.
In response, the union ministers assured to solve safeguard the integrity of Manipur and addressed the other concerns as mentioned above.
Meanwhile, Sagolband MLA RK Imo opined that convening of the all-party meet by Union home minister Amit Shah on June 24 at New Delhi to discuss the situation in Manipur is positive outcome for the legislators currently camping in the national capital to bring peace and normalcy in the state.
Hoping that the all-party meet will help in restoring normalcy in Manipur, RK Imo said state legislators currently in New Delhi had met several national leaders and mounted strong pressure on them to take up immediate steps to bring back peace and normalcy in Manipur.
He said that ML'As had met defence minister Rajnath Singh, finance minister Nirmala Sitharaman, BJP national spokesperson Sambit Patra and national general secretary BL Santosh so far.
Apart from the legislators, representatives of different political parties from Manipur are also meeting central leaders and submitting memoranda to bring peace in Manipur.
Main issues made known to central leaders during the meetings include protection of territorial integrity of Manipur, withdrawal of SoO with Kuki militants and reopening of NH-2 at Kangpokpi sector, RK Imo added.
