Thongju Block Congress Committee today organised a meeting yesterday at its office premises in Khongman Atom Leirak under Thongju Assembly Constituency.
The meeting presided by Thongju Block Congress Committee vice president Ningthoujam Ramo Meitei was attended by members of Block Congress and Block Level agents, said a release issued by Thongju Block Congress Committee.
Addressing the gathering, Seram Neken, member Manipur Pradesh Congress Committee, questioned the silence of Prime Minister Narendra Modi on the ongoing conflict in Manipur which began on May 3 last.
"It was unfortunate that the MLAs of Manipur including BJP Ministers were not granted an audience with the Prime Minister in New Delhi", he added.
He continued that Central leaders of BJP including the PM have maintained complete silence over the present issue in the State till date even though they visited Manipur many times and even took part in house campaigns during election time.
He also asserted that the recent visit of Union Home Minister Amit Shah not only failed to bring peace in Manipur rather violence has escalated in the State over the last few days.
Neken then asked why the Government has not taken any action against the 10 MLAs threatening the integrity of the State by demanding separate administration.
He also mentioned that the present unrest is not a communal conflict but an attack on the territory of India by foreign powers.
In the meeting, it was decided that the Thongu Block Congress Committee will support all the movements carried out by prominent CSOs of the State to protect the integrity of Manipur.
The participants also paid respect to those who had lost their lives in the present unrest and prayed to God for restoration of peace in Manipur.
