Imphal, June 22 2023:
In its continuous endeavour to provide assistance to the people taking refuge at different relief camps opened in Manipur, Manipur Indigenous Conservation Forum (MICF) has conducted the 5th round of Economic Survey at Naorem Birahari College Relief Camp, Khundrakpam; Sawombung Relief Camp, Sawombung; Yourabung Primary School, Yourabung and Government Dance College Relief Camp, Konung Mamang.
A release issued by MICF informed that in the survey, data pertaining to 203 families from areas namely Ikou, Dolaithabi, Leitanpokpi, Serou, Gwaltabi and Churachandpur were taken.
The forum also donated edible items and sanitary pads to the people taking refuge at the relief camps.
While conducting the survey, one inmate from Serou Makha Leikai narrated his plight and expressed discontentment over the inactivity of Assam Rifles personnel doing nothing to save innocent civilians while they were attacked by heavily armed Kuki militants.
He narrated how he dragged and saved his younger brother & nephew who were drenched in blood having sustained bullet injuries during the attack by Kuki militants.
He claimed that while dragging his brother and nephew, he saw personnel of Assam Rifles just standing and watching the whole scenario without taking up their arms against the Kuki militants to save the innocent civilians.
He also asserted that he is a retired Indian Army personnel, having served in different parts of the country including erstwhile state of Jammu & Kashmir.
Moreover, questioning the silence of the Prime Minister of India, MICF said, "It is quite unfortunate that our respected PM has not been able to spare some minutes of his valuable time to listen and meet with the elected representatives of our State who have been camping for many days in New Delhi; but he is busy with attending other national & international programmes and events" .
MICF further appealed to the State and Central Government to find the best solution possible at the earliest to restore peace & normalcy in Manipur.
