Imphal, June 22 2023:
While taking serious note of attempts being made to cause harm to the Meitei Pangal (Muslim) community amid the prevailing violence, Manipur Muslim Welfare Organisation (MMWO) has demanded the state's security advisor to investigate incidents involving the community till date while cautioning that the community will not stay silent in case of absence of positive response.
Addressing a press meet at its Hatta office on Thursday, MMWO advisor Abdullah Phundreimayum raised suspicions that the bomb attack on Wednesday near Kwakta village was an attempt to drag in the Meitei-Pangal community in the conflict situation.
He said that the attack cannot be taken lightly as it was carried out in an area guarded by central paramilitary forces.
As such, the security advisor should initiate investigation so as to unearth the truth of the attack, he urged.
Abdullah then said that if unrest in Manipur had occurred in Delhi, Bihar and Uttar Pradesh, it would have been solved within 2-3 days.
However, the government is continuing to watch the situation get worse for almost two months.
It seems that despite being part of India, the government of India is content to watch the people of Manipur die.
Thus, he urged the MLAs stationed in Delhi to come back to the state only after getting a concrete response from the centre.
