Covid vaccination, test conducted at Hiyanglam AC, Waiton

Hiyanglam AC MLA Dr Y Radheshyam, who is also a medical practitioner, conducted an inspection of the ongoing Covid vaccination drive being undertaken at the Health and Wellness Centre in Awang Nongmaikhong of the constituency on Tuesday.
Speaking in this regard, Dr Radheshyam informed that relief items are being distributed at Hiyanglam, Sekmaijin, Elangkhangpokpi, Langmeidong, Lamjao and Tezpur areas, where vaccination and testing drives are being carried out.
So far, 1500 people have been vaccinated at the HWC in Langmeidong and more are being vaccinated including at Hiyanglam PHC.
Additionally, those in home isolations are being closely monitored while also providing them with necessary medicines and items such as oximeters, etc.
Moreover, those exhibiting mild symptoms or are asymptomatic are being treated at the Community Home Isolation Centres, the MLA said, while conveying essential items such as face masks, hand sanitisers, etc., are being distributed in remote areas of the constituency as precautionary measures against the pandemic.
On the other-hand, under the aegis of CMO Imphal East, Waiton Gram Panchayat Covid-19 Task Force conducted Covid-19 mass testing at Waiton village on Tuesday.
The locals were examined for Covid-19 with the support of local club volunteers, Waiton GP pradhan P Surbala and ward members consequent to detection of increasing number of Covid-19 cases in the village.
In a release, Waiton GP Covid-19 Task Force informed that the third phase of the test was conducted on Tuesday at Waiton Maning Leikai community hall during which 120 people were tested, out of which five were found to be positive for Covid-19.Till now, 90 Covid-19 positive cases have been detected in Waiton village.
No new positive will be permitted to undergo home isolation in Waiton village from now on in due consideration of increasing number of Covid-19 cases in the village.
The decision was taken by the Task Force after witnessing patients under home isolation are becoming the source of spreading the infection to neighbouring houses, it added.
Task Force chairperson pradhan P Surbala further appealed to authorities concerned to provide food for the patients staying at the Community Covid Care Centre opened in the village.
