Water levels recede, Ithai Barrage gates closed

With the water levels of most rivers receding, authorities have started closing the gates of Ithai Barrage.
Notably, the water levels of all major rivers draining Imphal Valley rose dramatically following heavy and continuous rainfall for a couple of days.
The sudden rise in the water levels led to overflowing of water from some rivers and embankments of a few rivers got breached at certain sections.
As a result, vast areas were flooded.
The flood situation is still grim in some places.
According to a report given by the main flood control room of the Water Resources Department at 6 pm today, the water level of Imphal River at Minuthong was 785.750 m below the warning level of 785.900 m .

At Lilong, the water level of Imphal River was 781.450 m which was above the warning level but below the flood.
The warning and flood levels of Imphal River at Lilong are 780.350 m and 781.350 m respectively.
The water level of Iril River at Irilbung Bridge was 785.700 m.Here the warning level is 786.700 m .
The water level of Nambul River at Thong Nambonbi was 782.425 m which was above both the warning level and the flood level of 781.175 m and 782.175 m respectively.
Nambol River was also flowing above the flood level at Nambol Bridge at 774.100 m.Here the flood level is 773.700 m .
At Thoubal bridge, Thoubal River was flowing below the warning level at 775.700 m.The warning level here is 778.915 m .
The warning level of Manipur River at Ithai Barrage is 769.280 m.The water level of the river at this place at 5 pm was 769.190 m .
As the water level of Manipur River has receded below the warning level, gate no 1 and 5 of Ithai Barrage have been closed.
While gate no 2 and 3 are fully open, gate no 4 too has been partially closed.
As for Imphal Barrage, gate nos 2, 3, 4 and 5 are fully open.
Samushang regulatory of Nambul River is closed at present.
Gate no 1 of Thoubal Barrage is opened by 0.10 m while other gates are closed.
According to the main flood control room's report, Kangpokpi received 7 mm of rainfall between 5 am and 5 pm today, Litan received 3 mm, Raj Bhavan 6 mm and Lamphelpat received 7 mm of rainfall during the same period.
