Imphal, January 04 2023: Governor La Ganesan has said that Abesana Research Foundation has been rendering yeomen services in the field of education.

He was speaking at a philanthropic event held at the auditorium of Manipur State Film Development Society at Konung Mamang, Imphal today.

The Governor continued that the research foundation has been carrying out philanthropic activities in memory of Diana Rajkumari to inspire the youth.

"Unfortunately, she (Diana) passed away while pursuing her PhD.

She made significant scientific contributions to save endangered orchids and in recognition of her invaluable contributions, she was awarded the Young Scientist Award," La Ganesan said and expressed hope that the foundation will continue doing the good works.

Union Minister of State for External Affairs & Education Dr Rajkumar Ranjan Singh while lamenting the untimely demise of his daughter Diana Rajkumari, said that there are many young girls who are promising and can take the State to greater heights.

On National Education Policy 2020, the MoS said that the primary objective of the policy is to impart employability skills to students by giving them training in diverse fields.

Citing the importance of women in education, Dr Ranjan said that women should be the front-runners in education and development.

Saying that the Nation has been celebrating its 75th year of independence with the recognition of many unsung heroes since the past few months, the MoS maintained that the country is now progressing in various fields including agricultural science, atomic energy, research works etc.

He also recalled that India was a centre of education in the ancient period and people from different parts of the world used to come to the country to study philosophy, astronomy, yoga etc.

Claiming that many monuments and temples of the country were destroyed during Islamic invasion while the British not only robbed the future of Indians but also used them as their servants, he continued that Indians were suppressed for a prolonged period.

He continued that Prime Minister Narendra Modi and the Central Government, nonetheless, have been striving to make the country a hub of knowledge again by 2047 .

Later, the Governor and Dr Rajkumar Ranjan Singh distributed bicycles, smart projectors, sport materials and school bags to 90 girl students from 18 schools.

The event was organized by Abesana Research Foundation under the sponsorship of the Leela Foundation, India.
