Imphal, August 07 2023:
Vice president of BJP, Mani-pur Pradesh, Ch Chidananda has strongly condemned the partisan attitude of Assam Rifles amidst the ongoing ethnic crisis in the State.
Ch Chidananda, in a statement, strongly condemned the biased activities of AR instead of helping control the restive situation.
Beating unarmed Meitei womenfolk to pulp in the name of controlling law and order situation and rejoicing and dancing with womenfolk of other community on the other hand is highly unacceptable, he said.
No Meitei women is born to please them and dance to their tune, he said.
"We can't remain a silent spectator anymore as things have gone beyond limits.
These unbearable events and attrocities have forced us to put our community above self and the political party I work for," he said.
Prejudiced application of law over different communities has make the claims of unfair treatment to the Meitei by the Central Government very clear and the same is felt to him personally, he said.
In view of the biased attitude of the Assam Rifles, he wrote a letter to the Prime Minister on June 5, expressing his resentment against their activities and took the matter for discussion at party level, he said.
Further, he has also written to the party (BJP) to review the activities of Assam Rifles in vulnerable areas and withdraw them for their resentful acts, he said.
Stating that he endorsed the protests launched by Meira Paibis against Assam Rifles, Chidananda also urged the Central Government to ignore any demand which can break the integrity of Manipur raised by separatists including the demand for separate administration or Union Territory.
