Imphal, August 07 2023:
While maintaining that the law and order mechanism in the state has totally collapsed, and developmental works and economic activities completely halted, Janata Dal -United (JD-U) has contended that Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Union Home minister Amit Shah and chief minister N Biren should be held responsible for all the unwanted incidents happening in Manipur.
Addressing media persons at its Palace Compound office here on Sunday, JD-U spokesperson Nimaichand Luwang contended that the brutal murder of three Meiteis including a father-son duo by armed Kuki militants at Kwakta Lamkhai village while they were asleep on Saturday testified failure of the state government to control the ethnic violence, which is akin to the government surrendering to unlawful elements.
Despite deployment of thousands of security forces, there is no end to the crisis and it is likely that the security forces will not be able to control the situation as the establishment seems to be bereft of political will and means to contain the violence, Nimaichand said.
Apart from the lawlessness affecting people of all communities, developmental works and economic activities have come to a complete halt for which PM Narendra Modi, Union Home minister Amit Shah and chief minister N Biren are accountable, he said.
Refusing to convene emergency assembly session as demanded by all sections of the society and political parties but calling normal assembly session on August 21 clearly indicates that the state government does not at all care to discuss over the prevailing situation of the state, Nimainchand added.
The press conference was also attended by JD-U president Dr Kh Loken and vice president O Nabakishore.
