Imphal, August 07 2023:
Strongly condemning alleged biased attitude and conduct of Assam Rifles amid the on-going ethnic conflict in the state, BJP Manipur Pradesh vice president Ch Chidananda Singh hailed the indomitable spirit of Meitei women in leading from the front against any threat to the state and people, while remarking that a Meitei woman, who would dance with AR personnel and please their hearts, is yet to be born.
In a statement released to the press on Monday, Chidananda said that it is impossible to stay silent and watch our mothers, fathers, brothers and sisters suppressed and beaten, while the security personnel frolic and dance around with the other side.
He continued that even if he is a member of a political party, it has come to a point that one's own state and community is more important than the party.
Noting people's suspicions that the central government has been looking down on the Meitei community due to the divisive laws and policies of the government, Chidananda said that he feels the same as a Meitei.
He then recounted of writing to Prime Minister Narendra Modi on June 5 apprising him of AR's behaviour.
Iterating that the BJP state unit, disgusted with the behaviour of AR, has requested in writing for reviewing their actions and shifting them away from vulnerable locations, Chidananda extended his full support to the protests staged by mothers of the state against AR on Monday.
He then said that the central government should not consider any matter which is against Manipur's integrity, whether it be separate administration or union territory issue.
