Imphal, August 07 2023:
Ahead of the International Day of Indigenous Peoples-2023 observance on August 9, the students' wing of the Coordinating Committee on Manipur Integrity (COCOMI) said that fate of indigenous people of Manipur would be uncertain in near future if they are unable to give fitting answers to threats being posed to their land, identity and livelihood.
According to a statement of COCOMI students' wing, indigenous people of Manipur are being reduced to refugee status in their own land despite having unique history for thousands of years and self-rule.
If present generation of all the indigenous people of Manipur fail to fight collectively and fittingly threats posed to them after thorough discussion and deliberation on how they are being reduced to refugee status, then entire indigenous people of the land would be uprooted in near future, it cautioned.
The students' wing comprising of DESAM, KSA, SUK, AIMS and another prominent student body also paid its highest honour to brave sons of the soil who sacrificed their lives while defending the land from Chin-Ku-ki narco-terrorist attack.
The wing also extended its highest regard to village volunteers, mothers and all those fighting Chin-Kuki narco-terrorists.
