Imphal, April 18 2025:
Politburo Standing Committee of the armed Kangleipak Communist Party (KCP) declared permanent ban on the stay and entry of Ranjeet Kumar Gupta in Manipur.
The party also imposed ban on all businesses and other interests of Ranjeet Kumar Gupta in 'Kangleipak' including the 'Kadak Chai' restaurant at Mantripukhri.
Announcing the ban, a KCP statement issued by information & public relations secretary M Punshiba Meitei Stated that Ranjeet Gupta, a native of Bihar, has been doing business in Manipur for more than 10 years.
However, in the past few years, his main business had been the wholesale supply of Talab (the most popular Gutka brand) throughout Kangleipak along with the supply of alcoholic beverages.
Despite the non-negotiable permanent ban on trade and consumption of harmful smokeless tobacco products such as Talab, Shikhar and Bombay Pan Masala in Kangleipak with effect from March 25 declared by the party, Ranjeet continued to engage in wholesale supply of the banned products, thereby clearly defying the party's ban.
When the party enquired into his activities in Imphal, it has been found that Ranjeet Kumar Gupta has been running a restaurant named Kadak Chai at Mantripukhri, which was once stormed by Meira Paibi in 2023 for suspected immoral activities.
Further investigations revealed that his restaurant doubled up as some sort of night club and gambling den for people close to him.
This is the reason why Kadak Chai restaurant is heavily guarded by security personnel on illegal payroll day and night , the KCP statement said, appealing to the public not to visit the restaurant.
The party further appealed to the people not to lease their properties to Ranjeet with immediate effect.
In case of any existing tenancy contract(s), the landlord(s) concerned shall cancel them within five working days, the KCP statement said and warned of extreme action against Ranjeet if found violating the ban.
The party also warned all Imphal-based associates to part ways with Ranjeet Gupta.
