Transferred Jiri OC tenders resignation letter

A day after he was replaced as officer in-charge of Jiribam police station and posted at MPTC, inspector Sagapam Ibotombi has tendered voluntary resignation from service, submitting his resignation letter to DGP Rajiv Singh.
Notably, DGP Rajiv had on Thursday issued a transfer and posting order assigning Inspector Ibotombi as inspector MPTC.
The same order also effected the transfer of Kakching PS OC inspector Takhelmayum Rameshwar in the same position at Jiribam police station.
In his resignation letter addressed to DGP Rajiv Singh through Jiribam SO, inspector Ibotombi cited unavoidable circumstances of his family and other reasons for taking voluntary resignation from service and urged the DGP to accept his resignation.
Ibotombi also mentioned in his resignation letter that he was appointed as assistant sub-inspector on March 2, 2007, promoted to sub-inspector on September 30, 2010 and to inspector of Manipur police on July 18, 2016.According to Sagapam Ibotombi's resignation letter, he had been awarded President's Medal for Gallantry twice in his service tenure, scored 57 DGP good service marks, received one DGP commendation and 30 appreciation letters.
The resignation letter also mentioned that his entire service including at commando unit of Imphal West district mainly focused on leadership, community policing, supervising skills apart from playing key role in investigation, law & order duties and counter insurgency operations with appreciation from general public and senior officers.
Meanwhile, registering discontent over the transfer of Sagapam Ibotombi, meira paibi activists of Jiribam staged demonstration in front of the police station on Friday.
Speaking to reporters, a meira paibi member recalled OC Ibotombi as a courageous and dedicated officer who treated people from all communities with fairness.
"He has been providing excellent service and consistently supported both the meira paibis and the people of Jiribam," she stated, calling the transfer of the police officer as 'extremely unfortunate' .
The protesters appealed to the authorities to reconsider and revoke the transfer order in the interest of the people.
The demonstrators carried placards with messages including "We condemn the transfer order of OC Jiribam", "Do not transfer OC Jiribam", and "Jiribam OC not only assisted in relief camps but also donated year's salary for the people of Jiribam" .
