Ngaleiba s/o Sagolsem Ibo-chou Meitei and Chingkheinganba s/o Irengbam Dhana, had left their homes on July 4 to join others in defending a Meitei village in Leikinthabi area under Sekmai PS but were caught and brutally tortured before being killed by Kuki militants.
The Joint Action Comm ittee (JAC) against the killing o f Sagolsem Nganleiba Meitei and Irengbam Chingkheinganba Meitei of Sekmaijin Khunou by Kuki Militants, on Thursday blocked the Sekmaijin bride-Mayang Imphal -Wabagai road and staged sit-in protest demanding recovery of their bodies.
Speaking on the sidelines, a JAC member recounted that its members had met the CM twice requesting for recovery of the bodies of Ngaleiba and Chingkheinganba, but no action has been taken up till date.
The member then demanded strict action against the Kuki militants violating the ground rules of SoO, stating that even the farmers and civilians were spared during World War-II.
However, the Kuki militants, unable to blame the central and state governments, have been venting their angst on innocent civilians.
Thus, the Home Ministry must take serious note of the matter and help restore peace and normalcy in the state.
Appealing for recovering and handing over the duo's bodies to the families and the JAC at the earliest in adldition to demanding restoration of normalcy in the state, the member cautioned of launching intense agitations with like-minded bodies in case of failing to do so.
