Patient Safety Day held at JNIMS, Raj Medicity

Apart from doctors and nurses, the role of patient party is important in complete recovery of patients admitted to hospitals for treatment, stated JNIMS director professor Usharani.
In connection with 'World Patient Safety Day' observance held under the theme 'Improving diagnosis of for patient safety' on Tuesday, a rally was organised by JNIMS.
Director Usharani, who took part in the rally, explained that 'World Patient Safety Day' is observed throughout the world on September 17 every year since 2019 after the World Health Organisation (WHO) made an announcement in this regard.
This year, the Day is being observed under the global theme of 'Improving diagnosis of for patient safety' and JNIMS too observed the day with the same theme.
Just as diagnosis plays an important role in holistic treatment of a patient, it is equally important for a patient to share accurate statement of ailment to the doctor, she said.
According to professor Usharani, there will be more opportunity and convenient for treatment of a patient when diagnosis is done accurately and promptly and diagnosis can be done by the patients on their own without waiting for the doctor.
Technically, error in diagnosis cannot be ruled out due to oversight by doctor as well as patient.
However, all efforts must made to avoid misunderstanding between doctors and patients, she said, adding that World Patient Safety Day is held with the main objective of conducting prompt diagnosis for giving accurate treatment.
JNIMS medical superintendent Dr Kh Lokeshwar, who also joined the rally, said that proper diagnosis is crucial for successful treatment of a patient while responsibility of patient party apart from doctors and nurse is important for ensuring complete recovery of the patient.
The rally taken but from OPD to JNIMS Dental college was also joined by faculty members, nurses and students of the medical institute.
Raj Medicity also observed World Patient Safety Day on the year's theme 'Improving Diagnosis for Patient Safety: Get it right, make it safe' at its multipurpose hall.
A release issued by Raj Medicity informed that the observance was attended by its chairman and managing director Haobijam Rajen Singh, executive director Vijayraj Haobijam, medical director Prof Dr Ch Arunkumar Singh, medical superintendent Dr Aribam Ibotombi Sharma and HOD general surgery Dr Ng Narendra Singh.
Highlight of the observance was release of the inaugural edition of the 'Raj Medicity Antibiotic Policy', it added.
