RPI (Athawale) holds conclave on Manipur issue

Union social justice and empowerment minister Ramdas Athawale has said that RPI (Athawale) will stand with the people to safeguard the unity and territorial integrity of Manipur.
The union minister stated this during one-day conclave of RPI (Athawale) on Manipur issue held at Constitution Club, New Delhi on Friday.
During the conclave, Ramdas Athawale, who is also RPI (Athawale) national president, acknowledged that Manipur is currently facing numerous issues and his party will stand with the people to protect the unity and territorial integrity of Manipur all the time.
The party (RPI-Athawale) will also make all out efforts to ensure rights of the suffering people of Manipur, he announced, while adding that RPI-Athawale is hearing problems of the people of Manipur.
The union minister also assured of solving all the issues confronting Manipur.
RPI-Athawale national general secretary Mahesh-war Thounaojam, who also attended the conclave, said that removal of a particular community from the ST status or inclusion cannot be done without the recommendation of the state government concerned.
In this regard, former Union tribal affairs minister Arjun Munda and incumbent Union tribal affairs minister Joel Oram had already been apprised from his side with submission of relevant documents, he said and urged the state government to do the needful for inclusion of Meetei/Meitei in the ST list of Indian Constitution.
He also offered to retire from politics if unable to convince central leaders on inclusion of Meetei/Meitei in ST list in case the state government sends the requisite recommendations for the same.
At the end of the conclave, party delegates from Manipur attending the event submitted a memorandum to Union minister Ramdas Athawale highlighting the more than one year long violence in the state and strongly urged RPI (Athawale) to shoulder responsibility in resolving the crisis at the earliest.
