Imphal, February 03 2023: Chief minister N Biren has informed the state assembly that the government is working towards declaration of results of recruitment of 1700 posts in different departments at the earliest.

The chief minister stated this while responding to a query raised by Congress MLA Surjakumar Okram during the Question Hour on the second day of the 3rd session of the 12th Manipur Legislative Assembly on Friday.

In his reply to Surjakumar on pending recruitment results, CM N Biren said that the pending results for recruitment of 1700 posts in different departments for which interviews had already been conducted will be declared very soon.

Among the posts, government is trying to declare results for health department and education department first on priority basis while the remaining will be declared later on.

Biren said that recruitment results for 923 graduate teachers and 602 primary and Hindi graduate teachers would be declared within February this year while process for recruitment of 1,000 primary teachers is on.

According to CM Biren, the present BJP government has been working day and night and the Governor's address on Thursday would be voluminous and take more than three hours to read if all the works of the government were included.

He said that the Governor's address read out in 1.20 hour mentioned only the key points but there will be opportunity for detailed discussion during discussion on demands for different departments.

According to the CM, the Staff Selection Commission established after the state assembly passed the Manipur Staff Selection Commission Act 2022 on August 22, 2022 will function in the coming few months and there will be transparency in recruitment once the commission starts functioning.

He also said that the commission was established to check corruption in recruitment.

In his reply to another question by Surjakumar regarding widening of roads in Imphal area, CM Biren said that the government has taken up steps to expand 79 roads including 57 in the two districts of Imphal West and Imphal East.

He also said that widening of narrow roads in Imphal area will enable movement of fire brigade and other emergency vehicles.

Of the total roads to be widened, 90 percent of the survey for 30 roads in Imphal East district and 27 roads in Imphal West district have been completed while survey for the remaining will be conducted soon.

As of now there is no fixation on the size of roads to be widened and everything necessary will be done in coordination with the affected people to avoid unwanted incident in the road widening process and make the project successful.

Fund for widening of the roads will be procured from Asian Development Bank and Asian Infrastructure Investment Bank while state government will bear the compensation amount.

To another question raised by Opposition MLA Th Lokeshwar on suspension of chief engineer of Minor Irrigation department, the chief minister informed that House that suspension order of the chief engineer has been revoked as per rule 10 (5) (c) of CCS (CCA) Rules 1965.Meanwhile, PHE minister L Susindro Meitei, while responding to a query raised by Oppo sition MLA K Ranjit on defunct water supply schemes, informed the House that PHE department has been providing water through water tankers at localities covered by 19 water supply schemes which had stopped supply of water.

He also said that Takhel water supply scheme has started functioning and the department is trying to revive the defunct water supply schemes.

Minister Susindro further informed the House that Iril river could provide water to greater Imphal area for at least three months though Imphal river could provide only one month as per the present water level.

He also informed the House that beneficiaries under Har Ghar Jal Mission are being provided drinking water at least three days in a week.

In his supplementary question, MLA Ranjit said that there have been numerous complaints from public about scarcity of drinking water in some areas of greater Imphal in view of supply of water for only two hours in 15 days.

In his reply to MLA Ranjit's supplementary question, minister Susindro said that supply of drinking water from Singda dam stopped after recession of the water level but the government is trying to supply water from the newly developed Chingkhei Ching Water Supply Scheme.

Laying of water pipelines from Chingkhei Ching Water Supply Scheme is going on in full swing and water scarcity problem will be lessened at least to some extent once the pipelines are connected, he said, adding that old water pipeline in Keishampat area will be replaced oy new ones.
