Pherzawl braces for 'Biggest Festival of Democracy'

Pherzawl, April 25 2024:
With all the polling stations in the district ready to receive its 35,009 voters, Pherzawl is all set to partake in the "Biggest Festival of Democracy" on Friday.
All the 234 polling personnel along with EVMs have reached their assigned destinations to conduct the polls.
Additionally, adequate central armed and state police forces also have been deployed to ensure security for voters, polling officials and maintain integrity of the voting process.
Despite the absence of special polling stations owing to the non-existence of Internally Displaced Persons in the district, no effort has been spared to facilitate seamless voting for all eligible voters.
Pherzawl district will have 78 polling stations spread across Thanlon and Tipaimukh assembly segments which fall under Outer Manipur Parliamentary Constituency.
Pherzawl DEO Asish Das has been actively overseeing all electoral preparations besides working closely with the election observers for Outer Manipur parliamentary constituency to ensure a free, fair and smooth conduct of the Lok Sabha elections.
Senvon Govt H/School (A) with 1130 electors is the largest polling station while the smallest polling station, Phaibok Hmunte has only 45 voters.
Meanwhile, the farthest polling stations- Chingmun LP School and Doltang LP School are located 290 km away from the dispersal centre.
Polling officials of these two stations and 14 others will be airlifted along with EVMs after the completion of polling.
Election Commission of India has stipulated EPIC and 12 other photo ID cards including Aadhaar, driving license to be used for voter identification at polling booths
on the polling day.
