No intention to contest Lok Sabha polls: Sanajaoba

Reacting to rumours/reports that BJP ticket for the Lok Sabha election for inner Manipur seat would be allotted to him, Rajya Sabha MP Leishemba Sanajaoba clarified that he had neither sought ticket nor has any intention to contest the parliamentary election.
While confiding that many enquired if he will be contesting the upcoming Lok Sabha election, Leishemba Sanajaoba said he is still a member of the Rajya Sabha whether good or bad but does not have any intention to contest Lok Sabha election.
There are talks within the party circle and outside that the upcoming Lok Sabha election in respect of two parliamentary constituencies of Manipur will be difficult owing to present situation in the state.
However, there are many leaders who have worked and sacrificed for the party for a long time and accordingly should allow incumbent Union minister of state Dr RK Ranjan and senior leaders contest the polls, Leishemba Sanajaoba stressed.
Responding to media persons on the sideline of releasing a music video album entitled 'Ningol Macha Leiringei' produced by Centre for Meitei-Pangal Cultural Studies Manipur at Sana Konung on Sunday, Sanajaoba pledged to work for the party in the upcoming election as a party worker.
When asked specifically if he would contest the polls if nominated, he maintained that there is np talk of making him candidate for the polls and most unlikely that the party would propose him.
Moreover, I have not sought ticket nor proposed the same for anyone, Sanajaoba clarified.
The release function of 'Ningol Macha Leiringei' was also attended by Meitei-Pangal Eegee Khongul Leeba Foundation Committee president B Yaima Shah, music composer and director Jiten Khaidem, Meitei-Pangal Council Manipur president Haji Arafat and Manipur Meitei-Pangal Welfare Organisation president Boiboi Khorimayum.
Dr Raheizuddin Sheikh is lyricist of song of the music album while Mohid Rahim and Jiten khaidem co-directed it.
The song depicts blood relation among the Meetei and Meitei-Pangal communities and glorifies those who laid down their lives during many battles fought to defend the land.
In his speech at the function, Leishemba Sanajaoba said the song was produced very meaningfully by Meitei-Pangal community who have settled in Manipur since the reign of king Khagemba.
He also recalled how the Meitei-Pangal community fought alongside the Meetei to push out the Awas during the seven years of devastation and participation of Meitei-Pangal women in the Nupi Lal movement.
He also said that many people from Meitei-Pangal community are shouldering their responsibility in the ongoing war in Manipur.
