Imphal, June 06 2010:
Date of counting which had been earlier fixed on June 7 for the District Council elections has been postponed because of incomplete polling in some polling stations of Churachandpur, tamenglong and Ukhrul Autonomous Districts, said a notification issued by the State Election Commission.
Meanwhile, polling held on June 2 at 23/8 K Leihaoram Primary School under 23 Kasom Khullen DCC has been declared void on account of ballot papers burnt by miscreants.
Subsequently, the State Election Commission has ordered re-polling at this polling station on June 7 between 7 am and 3.30 pm.
On the other hand, it has been reported that re-polling for 47 polling stations of Tamenglong Autonomous District Councils where either polling officials could not reach or the polling adjourned due to several factors would be held in two phases on June 11 and June 16 .
For this, a total of 38 polling parties will be dispatched from Tamenglong Hqs followed by nine parties from Imphal starting from June 8.Meanwhile, 13 polling officials have been suspended for failing to report for dispersal during phase one, informed the Tamenglong DC in a press release.
