No knowledge of memo to PM demanding replacement of CM: Minister Biswajit

Power minister Th Biswajit Singh has said that he has no knowledge of the memorandum submitted to the Prime Minister by 19 ruling MLAs demanding the replacement of Chief Minister N Biren Singh.
Minister Th Biswajit was attending the 133rd Raising Day celebration of Manipur Police at the 1MR parade ground on Saturday as chief guest.
After the end of the celebration, media persons asked Th Biswajit if a memorandum demanding the replacement of Chief Minister N Biren Singh was submitted to the Prime Minister.
However, Biswajit replied that he has no knowledge of the memorandum and could not verify the memorandum said to be submitted to the PM as he is not an expert.
He also gave no comment on whether the memorandum was submitted to the PM or not.
While addressing the gathering earlier at the event, Biswajit highlighted the significant role played by Manipur police personnel in controlling law and order and stressed the need for public support to police.
The role played by Manipur Police in the present situation is enormous, and accordingly, people need to extend cooperation to them, he said, while appealing to police personnel to work in accordance with the pulse of the people.
While recalling how Manipur Police was established, Th Biswajit said the Manipur Police department is now a full-fledged department with more than 40,000 personnel, though it started with only around 5,000 personnel.
He said that the police department not only controls insurgency problems but also tackles unwanted incidents that occur almost on a daily basis.
Police personnel are also tackling various anti-social activities, including drug smuggling, and they are also playing an active role in the present government's 'War on Drugs' campaign.
DGP Rajeev Singh, who also attended the event, told the gathering that the attack launched by Kuki militants at Borobekra police station on Saturday morning has been controlled with swift response by security forces deployed in the area.
He also informed the gathering that the NIA has started an investigation into the attack at Koutruk village in Imphal West district, wherein a young woman was killed and her minor daughter was injured.
Manipur Police has been putting maximum efforts to contain the violence since May 2023 and has been able to bring back normalcy gradually, he added.
Earlier, a march-past by 12 contingents of Manipur Police commanded by 3 IRB CO Sarangthem Hemanta was held, and police personnel exhibited their talents.
Meanwhile, Lamphel Police Station bagged the first prize for the DGP Trophy for the Best Police Station, while Jiribam PS and Churachandpur women PS bagged the joint second prize.
The third prize went to Patsoi PS and Bishnupur PS.
The DGP Trophy for the Best Police Officer was bagged by women SI A Sarjubala of Bishnupur women PS and SI Vashum Mina of Ukhrul PS.
The first prize for the DGP Trophy for the Best Battalion was bagged by 1 Manipur Rifles, while 2 MR and 8 MR won the second prize.
The third prize was won jointly by 8 IRB (CDO) Khabeisoi and 5 MR.The event was also attended by RD & PR minister Y Khemchand, education minister Th Basanta, CAF & PD minister L Susindro, social welfare minister Heikham Dingo, security advisor Kuldiep Singh, and top officials of Manipur Police and other departments.
