Three BSF men die with similar symptoms

In a span of just 18 hours, three personnel of the 63rd Battalion, BSF, B Company, posted at the DC Office complex in Thoubal, died, all showing similar symptoms.
The incidents have raised concerns as the exact cause of death remains unknown though all of them showed shortness of breath.
According to police report, the first victim, head constable Ravinder Singh (46) from Indri Pattan, Jammu and Kashmir, complained of shortness of breath on Monday morning at around 8:26 am.
He was immediately rushed to Thoubal district hospital where he was provided first aid and subsequently referred to RIMS hospital in Imphal.
Despite the efforts, he passed away at RIMS hospital at 9:46 am.
Ravinder Singh was part of A Company but was attached to B Company.
Later that evening, another head constable, Ramesh Chandra Singh (54) from Nagla Keshri, Uttar Pradesh, fainted while on duty at the sentry post inside the DC Office Complex at around 6:35 pm.
He was taken to Thoubal district hospital and subsequently referred to RIMS hospital in Imphal, where he succumbed one hour past midnight.
The third fatality occurred early Tuesday.
Head constable Vipendra Singh Rawat (45) complained of similar symptoms of shortness of breath at around 1:25 am.
He was rushed to Shija Hospital in Imphal, but efforts to save him proved futile, and he passed away at around 2:10 am.
Following the incidents, a report was filed by sub-inspector Manish Kumar Singh of BSF, and three UD (Unnatural Death) cases were registered at Thoubal police station under Section 194 of BNSS.
In response to the deaths, District Hospital Thoubal conducted a medical check-up at the election council hall of the DC Office Complex under the supervision of DC Thoubal Ahanthem Subhash.
This initiative was aimed at identifying any potential health issues among the personnel stationed at the complex.
At the time of filing this report, no official statement had been issued by the State Health Department regarding the deaths.
The circumstances surrounding the fatalities remain under investigation, and further details are awaited.
