Imphal, August 27 2023:
In connection with the statements made by RPI Athawale national secretary Thounaojam Maheshwar for complete removal of Assam Rifles from Manipur, IGAR (South) has sent a legal notice to the young politician.
The legal notice sent by a Shillong Bar Association advocate named Nitin Khera stated that during a public event in New Delhi on June 30, Maheshwar made various slanderous remarks against Assam Rifles.
His statements not only defamed but portrayed Assam Rifles poorly in front of the people.
Assam Rifles has been working tirelessly to maintain peace in the country and playing a huge role in its development as well.
Thus, Maheswhar must clarify his statements in public domain within 15 days and refrain from making anymore defamatory remarks against the security force.
On the other hand, various Meira Paibi groups of Keishamthong AC have strongly condemned the legal notice send by IGAR (South) to Maheshwar and demanded that the notice be withdrawn within three days, failing which various protests will be launched.
In a press meet held at Keishampat Aheibam Leirak on Sunday, Sagolband Meino Leirak Meira Paibi Lup general secretary Ksh Anita stated that the demand for removal of Assam Rifles from Manipur is not Maheshwar's lone call, but the collective voice of the Meetei populace.
Keishampat Aheibam Leirak Meira Paibi Lup member Chongtham Benu said that Maheshwar is the messenger of the Meetei populace in New Delhi and other places.
He is only conveying the sentiments of the people across the country.
However, Assam Rifles' legal notice to Maheshwar is not at the person himself but to the people, who are against the disintegration of the state.
She then urged all concerned to come forward and prove the legal notice wrong.
