Imphal, August 27 2023:
Demanding the government to adopt a firm resolution to end the ongoing conflict during the state assembly scheduled on August 29, Thawai Mirel Women Wing has urged local Meira Paibis to stage sit-in protest at their respective localities until the assembly session ends.
Speaking to media persons at Manipur Press Club here on Sunday, Women Wing co-convenor Paonam Sanahanbi urged the local Meira Paibis to stage sit-in demanding end to the conflict and specifying a date to end it during the assembly session.
Contending that the government failed to end the conflict which has been going on for nearly four months now, she reiterated to adopt a firm resolution to end the conflict in the assembly session.
Chipping in, Wing convenor Th Sujata denounced the government for convening the assembly session for a day only and added that the session is only meant for protecting the government.
She enquired what could be discussed and what resolution can be taken about the conflict in a day 's sitting.
The relay hunger strike will be continued and even more intense protest will be launched if the resolution to end the conflict is not adopted in the assembly session, she cautioned.
She questioned why CM continues to protect the ten Kuki MLAs, who have raised the demand for a separate administration.
It is shameful as a citizen that the Kuki MLAs rejected the claim of CM contacting them.
Pointing out that the civilians are affected by the ongoing conflict, she urged the security advisor to make the security forces deployed in the state to discharge their duty efficiently and end the conflict.
