Destroyed houses will be reconstructed: Lamlai MLA

The state government is all set to take up re-construction of around 20 houses at Leitanpokpi Awang Leikai Mairenpat and 12 houses at Sadulampak in Imphal East district belonging to the Meitei communities which were burnt down by Kuki miscreants during the ethnic violence, stated Lamlai MLA Khongbantabam Ibomcha.
On Sunday, MLA Ibomcha inspected Leitanpokpi area to rebuild the destroyed houses and met with villagers of Leitanpokpi at the community hall.
Speaking on the side-lines of the visit, MLA K Ibomcha informed that the state government is making all efforts to re-build the destroyed houses and aid the displaced people living in relief camps return safely to their homes.
He further informed that as a first step to re-construct burnt down houses, MLAs have been assigned different districts to identify places where there is no problem.
He along with Wangkhei MLA Thangjam Arunkumar, Andro MLA Thounaojam Shyamku-mar and Patsoi MLA Sapam Kunjakeshwar have been asked to take charge of Imphal East district following which he has come to Leitanpokpi.
Since'no problems have been reported in Leitanpokpi and Sadu Lampak as the area has been under strict security guard, re construction works can be taken up.
As such, re-construction of the burnt houses will be taken up very soon.
Pangabam Yaipha of Leitanpokpi Awang Leikai Mairenpat whose house has been destroyed by Kuki miscreants said that along with burning down his house, the Kuki militants also chased them out by firing bullets during which his wife and son were injured.
Under such a situation it is very fortunate that Lamlai MLA has come to re-construct our houses at our own places, he said.
