Imphal wakes up to traffic disruptions

Imphal, January 24 2024:
Imphal witnessed traffic disruption for few hours in the morning today as security forces placed barricades along various major road leading toward Kangla Fort to prevent unwanted incidents during the meeting of representatives of the Arambai Tenggol and Meitei MLAs and MPs inside Kangla Fort.
The barricades were removed at around 1 pm following which, normal traffic resumed.
A large number of people from different parts of the valley districts came out on the streets from early morning onwards and headed towards Imphal.
To prevent unwanted incidents, security personnel in large numbers including personnel of Central Armed Police Force (CAPF) were stationed at important junctions.
People coming from Uripok Kangchup Road and Imphal Jiribam Road were stopped at Maharani Bridge while those coming along Tiddim and Imphal-Moreh Roads were stopped at Keishampat and Singjamei Chingamakhong respectively by placing iron barricades.
A large number of people coming along Imphal-Dimapur, Imphal-Ukhrul and Imphal-Saikul Road were stopped at Chingmeirong and Khurai Lamlong respectively.
Police barricades were also kept at Konung Mamang and Minuthong to prevent people from heading toward Kangla Fort.
Extra security measures were taken up along road stretches leading toward the Chief Minister's Bungalow and Raj Bhavan.
Those who gathered at Keishampat, Uripok Machin, Sagolband, Singjamei, Moirangkhom, Lamlong, Chingmeirong, Khuyathong and other places chanted slogan supporting Arambai Tenggol.
