Kangpokpi, January 24 2024:
The Committee on Tribal Unity (CoTU), Sadar Hills has questioned the rationality of the visit of the 3-member panel of the Ministry of Home Affairs, Government of India and their meeting with Arambai Tenggol.
It demanded the Government of India to declare the Arambai Tenggol as a "banned outlaw" organization.
The Committee said the MHA team's visit is a "one-sided" appeasement policy and alleged that the team didn't consider visiting the Kuki-Zo community who are also bearing the brunt of the conflict.
It said CoTU represents all kindred tribes of the Kuki-Zo and strongly opposes the "one-sided" appeasement policy of the Centre Government.
CoTU said the visit is an act of redeeming the "unqualified and incapacitated" leader in a State where the BJP is in power.
It has a damning consequence and has belittled the image and reputation of BJP, it said.
It said lasting peace and normalcy in the State can only be achieved when the Government of India bans the Arambai Tenggol as an outlaw organisation, imposes the Armed Forces Special Power Act AFSPA in the valley and ultimately recognizes the physical and geographical "separation" between the Kuki-Zo and the Meiteis.
It said the "separation" will ensure an "amiable and cordial relationship between the two warring communities" in the coming days.
