Indo-IM's CF not applicable in Manipur: Gaikhangam

Imphal, July 21 2014: Reiterating that the ceasefire agreement signed between NSCN (IM) and Government of India is not applicable to the State of Manipur, Deputy Chief Minister Gaikhangam, who is also the Home Minister, informed the State Assembly today that the government is taking up necessary measures to tackle the anti-social activities of NSCN (IM) which has committed more than 400 crimes ever since it signed the ceasefire agreement.

Responding to query raised by legislators on crimes committed by NSCN (IM) in the State, Gaikhangam admitted that the outfit has been carrying out subversive activities including killing of Government officials despite signing the ceasefire agreement with the Government of India and assured that the State Government is taking up appropriate steps to thwart the anti-social activities of the outfit.

On question asked by MLA Bishwajit, the Dy CM said that telephone services in most of the police stations are not working.

Some of the police stations have defaulted from paying the bills while some others are yet to get telephone connection.

Nonetheless, necessary steps are being made to communicate with the police stations through mobile phones of SPs of the districts for ensuring uninterrupted communication, he added.

Replying to another question raised by MLA L Ibomcha, Social Welfare Minister AK Mirabai said that State Commissioner for Person with Disability was appointed recently to facilitate services of the department and asserted that the State Commissioner was appointed by following recommendation made by the Selection Committee.

Chief Minister O Ibobi while responding to questions raised by MLA Bishwajit informed that the sanction amount for setting up of Integrated Tourist Circuit at Leirenpat, Puruksoubi and Leishang Hiden which was sanctioned in December 2010 is Rs 648 lakhs and the works for setting up of the tourist circuit at Leirenpat and Puruksoubi already started since February, 2011 .
