Senapati, June 08 2025:
In response to the severe hardship caused by recent torrential rains and subsequent floods in Senapati district, the Poumai Baptist Church Senapati (PBCS) mobilised swiftly to provide immediate relief to affected families.
Recognising the widespread damage to homes, livelihoods, and essential supplies, the church felt compelled by Christian love and duty to act, providing yeoman services at this critical juncture.
A team of volunteers, led by two pastors and deacons from the Poumai Baptist Church, distributed essential relief materials to numerous families impacted by the floods, irrespective of tribes or communities.

The distribution drive specifically aimed to reach those in urgent need within the Senapati area.
Relief was provided without distinction between church members and non-members.
The sole criterion was stated to be the need arising from flood damage in the district.
Rev Havei William, associate pastor of PBCS, stated that this initiative was a tangible expression of Christ's love and the biblical mandate to love one's neighbour as oneself, based on Mark 12:31, and to care for those suffering (Matthew 25:35-40).The church demonstrated its commitment to being a supportive family within the broader Senapati community, standing in solidarity during the crisis.
The relief distribution brought essential sustenance and a message of hope to families struggling in the aftermath of the floods.
Recipients expressed deep gratitude, not only for the material aid but also for the visible concern and solidarity shown by the church community.
The act served as a powerful testament to Christian values of love, service, and compassion.
"Our hearts go out to all those suffering due to the recent devastating floods.
As followers of Christ, we are called to be His hands and feet in times of need.
This distribution is a humble act of service, extending God's love and our support to all affected families within our community, regardless of background or affiliation.
We stand with you in this difficult time, offering prayers and practical help as part of our shared humanity and our Christian family.
We remain committed to supporting our neighbours as recovery efforts continue," PBCS church leaders mentioned during the distribution.
The Poumai Baptist Church's timely relief effort effectively demonstrated Christian compassion and community solidarity in Senapati.
By serving both members and non-members alike, the church embodied the inclusive love central to its faith, providing crucial aid and comfort to families reeling from the flood disaster.
The church continues to hold the affected communities in prayer.
Around 500 affected families received immediate relief, consisting of 10 kg of rice, 1 kg of salt, and 1 kg of potatoes, with the salt and potatoes generously donated by the Young Tribal Women's Network.
The distribution took place in different colonies within Makhrelui, Senapati, including Viewland Colony, Yaopao Colony, River Colony, and Bridge Colony, where the floods mostly affected low-lying areas within the district headquarters.
