War against Meiteis will be costly: AMUCO to Kukis

Imphal, July 09 2023: Maintaining that Meiteis would never retreat or surrender in a war aQs fighting battles with bravery and courage has been in the blood of the Meiteis, All Manipur Unit-ed Clubs' Organisation (AMUCO) president Nando Luwang cautioned the Kukis that waging war against Meiteis could cost them heavily.

Speaking at the people's conven-tion on the topic "Present Burning Crisis of Manipur" organised by 36 clubs of Patsoi assembly constitu-ency under the aegis of Ideal Club at Tera Keithel on Sunday, Nando advised Kuki scholars to flip through the history of Manipur and be aware that similarly to the Meitei fore-fathers sacrificing their lives for the motherland the contemporary generation too bear thesame char-acteristics as their valiant ancestors.

While observing that it is not the time for the indigenous communi-ties to spectate the situation, Nan-do said that the war being fought by the Meiteis is not only for the community but for all the other indigenous people and safeguarding the territorial integrity of Manipur.

He also likened the present conflict to the 3rd Nupi Lal as could be com-prehended from the mighty Indian army in-spite of being empowered with the 'shootatsighe order continue to face stiff resistance from the wom-en vigilantes (meira paibi), who are undeterred by imposition of curfew.

Nando also pointed out the need for the state forces to get engaged in the war and save Manipur instead indulging in petty matters in the heart of Imphal city.

"Whether we like it or not, we have to be fully in-volvedin the present war and we are sure we will come out victorious.

As central forces and Kukis have tacit understanding it wouldbe wishful thinking that the centre wouldcome to the rescue of Meiteis" .

History is proof that Kukis are refugees as they enjoyed the 'refugee fund' on April 22, 1957, February 28,1966 and on July 7, 1969, he said and ridiculed the Kukis demanding their homeland in Manipur.

Moreover, those Kukis encroaching on reserve forest area, planting poppies and indulging in drug business need to be handled effectively by the government, he said.

The meeting also adopted a number of resolutions which included - ending the killing of innocent people, immediate abro-gation of So0 agreement, implementation of NRC, upholding the integrity of Manipur, protecting the indigenous people of Mani-pur, prevent entry of illegal immigrants in Manipur and prevent cultivation of poppy and narco-terrorism in Manipur.
